Hey Bob - In regard to the "drunken hippie circus" status of the Little Red Rooster Band, as I recall, not all of us were drunk all of the time. I have fond memories of the band actually working hard and writing and playing some pretty good tunes back in the day. At least that's how I prefer to remember it, but seeing as how I am also approaching sexagenarian status, who knows? Maybe it was "just a fantasy, It's not the real thing, But sometimes a fantasy, Is all you need". Either way, it was a blast!

I was just at a screening of Tall Corn Euforia for the Julien Dubuque Film Festival! You had a great part in it and it was greatly received. Dean Wellman is showing it all weekend of the fest! This may be an indication that CF Cablevision is starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for interview subjects on their Arts Overview feature, but they stopped over to my little studio to interview me last week, with the resulting footage to be aired this coming week, starting tomorrow (Thurs) night on CF cable TV channel 15. It was fun for me, thanks to CF producer Mike Mennen for the airtime!

Thank you Blue Band for the awesome time we had at the Hub Friday Night! 8 in our group from the DsM and Marshalltown area took off work early to partake in the Geezer Gig. An area social studies teacher has students who like to interview you (online/phone--you name it) for their National History Day project! I teach at Dike New Hartford Junior High. A few students are researching the Beatles and their impact for our annual "science-fair" style project and thought that an expert like you might be willing to share insights or suggest books for their research. Had a most fantastic and uplifting phone call today. No it wasn't an offer for a cool Blue Band gig (but that would be great too!) It was directly from Iowa Blues, Jazz, and Rock'n'Roll Hall of Famer Sam Salomone saying he's out of the hospital (he had 4 operations in 2012) and the prognosis for recovery is better than it's been in a long, long time. Give him a few days to acclimate to being home (he says the best thing is not having to wear those hospital gowns!) and then maybe give him a call to help keep his spirits positive! WooHoo! bd

She was the female voice on LOTS of Bob Seger tours, a couple Eric Clapton tours, the female voice in Little Feat from 1993-2008, and now a fantastic voice of modern blues doing her own worldwide tours with her own band. Dear Bob, In the past you've told me that I've been an inspiration for you. Once again I'm telling you I'm only human. On Sept.4th, I showed up at the Y with an infection in my right leg, my left leg not feeling good, and me with a fever. But, instead of asking for time off, going to a hospital and getting rid of the bug, I handled it the wrong way, trying to exercise the bug out with rehab, instead of taking time off, waiting for the swelling to go down, and going on from there. As a result of what I decided to do, this rehab took place from Sept. to Dec., and the infection and the fever are now gone, but the right leg is still a little weak. I'm telling you, if you get a leg infection, handle it faster than I did in 2012. However, I'm not going to beat myself up about this for the rest of my life-I'm just going to take better care of myself if I do get another infection in the future. I got a real good evaluation from the Y on the 19th, and, if everything continues to go well, in 2 years, when the Y moves to the D. M. Convention Center,so will I. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving, I hope you saw Argo and Lincoln this year, and if you have no deal with IPR, I will consider not giving to them. But if you want to retire from the radio, that's fine, too. Happy Anniversary to the two of you. I guess I'm taking the long way around the barn to tell you I will be there tomorrow, and once again I'm renting a room with a walk-in shower.$209 sounds like a reasonable price for New Year's Eve fun to me. I use my electric wheelchair more often lately, but tomorrow you will be seeing me walking around, at least somewhat,and I'll also see if I have any dance moves left. See you there-Is Denise coming? Great news about the Fair! Maybe those thoughts will keep me warm as I hear the wind howling out there. I saw a life size statue of Jesus with a Santa hat on. My #1 resolution for the New Year is to be a better person. {Resolution #2 is to redefine the term "better".}

We just got a fantastic Christmas present: An invitation for the Blue Band to be at the Iowa State Fair for our 30th summer on the Fairview Stage (that's what it was called when we first started playing there-before naming rights!) A co-worker is looking for up-beat Christmas songs for her Pandora station. Her father just died and she want's to remember him in this way. I immediately thought of your Christmas albums - especially Yuletide. I don't want to violate copyright so I've never ripped a song from a CD. Most of yours are so perfect. Is there anyway I could get (I'd pay) for electronic versions that she could use?
